The Huawei Mate 10 Pro had some pretty big shoes to fill. And I'm not saying that because the Chinese tech giant has made some lofty claims about the Mate 10's built-in A.I. capabilities via its NPU (neural processing unit), or that the Mate 10 Pro may be the first Huawei smartphone to finally have U.S. carrier support. No, the Mate 10 Pro had high standards to meet for me personally because last year's Mate 9 Pro was my favorite smartphone of 2016.
